Dr. Franz has been an optometrist since 1980. Dr Franz is a true contact lens specialist. He was the 1980 recipient of the Bausch & Lomb Outstanding Achievement Award which was granted to the number one contact lens practitioner in his class. He has proudly served the New Orleans area for more than 28 years. As a member of the Louisiana State Association of Optometrists and The American Optometric Association, Dr. Franz adheres to the highest professional standards concerning prudence and competence in his profession.
His education includes a Bachelor's of Science in 1976 from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. Following this, a Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Dr. Franz also was a 1972 graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie. Additionally, Dr. Franz has completed the certification necessary in the State of Louisiana to practice using and prescribing therapeutic pharmaceutical agents.
His specialty is toric contact lenses, hybrid contact lenses, gas permeable contacts, bifocal contact lenses and special needs contact lens patients specifically, a condition called keratoconus. Equally at home with a 4 year old patient or an 94 year old patient, Dr. Franz provides full spectrum family optometric care as well as medical eye needs.
